Sent by vishal

eating cheap sweets and pay for high cost treatments, its better to eat mithais which are made with out artificial coloring, silver foil etc. there should be a regular inspections done at all sweet shop kitchens, and administer heavy fines if found guilty of adultering and cancel licences if found second time.
Sent by seema

there should be very strick law against all these but unfortunately inspite of the knowing all these nothing is done for this and people playing with the health of the common people and making huge margin.
Sent by pushpa dhusia

Sent by r.k.pandit

adulterated sweets should be baned...
Sent by somobanti pal

what is being sold in the disguise of silver to unsuspecting consumers is deadly poison.the use of carcinogenic metals should be stricltly banned.
Sent by charu sharma

well its festive season and we start buying sweets from all over..most of the sweet houses openly flout the preparation requirements and sell the sweets in open.everytime during diwali we come across such debates but only a little is actually done.
Sent by aditya munjal

there shd be drastic punishment for people responsible for adulteration not only in sweets, but also on every edible item.
Sent by rakesh singh

toxic items such as silver foil should be totally banned to be used in sweets. health department should keep a tab on shops preparing & selling sweets as whether the rules on hygienic conditions are followed. this will enable to protect in keep in control , spreading of contagious diseases.
Sent by p.selvaraj

sweets are fun but we need to think before we eat them and eat in moderation.
Sent by deepak bhaskaran

this acan be interpreted as presenting poison and eating poison knowingly. silver foils on food items should be banned immediately.
Sent by k.isaac

government enforcement agencies like pfa should be sincere in detecting adulteration in sweet preparation.
Sent by

indian laws are too weak on adulteration of food. adulteration of food should be considered as attempt to murder. mixing dangerous items in food without the consumer's knowledge is tentamount to murder attempt and should be treated so.
Sent by sandeep s prabhu

stop/interfere is not the solution. effective control over the hazard is required.
Sent by kumar

adulteration in sweets should be dealt severely with iron hand
Sent by s abdul

yes there should certainly be warning/information regarding how sweets are not healthy to us. educating people about the disadvantages of sweets should be made compulsory in all sweet boxes.
Sent by kr.suresh

i do agree with all the points mentioned above
Sent by sujatha

all the listed options are very important.
Sent by dhanya kumar

persons involved in adulteration especially in food items and medicines should be hanged as we cannot give a grave punishment than this as they are responsible for the health/death of many people due to such adulteration.
Sent by ajit

instead of exchangeing the sweets during any festivals pepole should be encouraged to distribute/exchange dry fruits which is more healty
Sent by s.sreenivas

all the above points are to be taken care of.
Sent by vijayalakshmir2001

every one shud takecare of health
Sent by sireesha

there should be some regulatory mechanism to monitor the quality and the conditions under which these are prepared. all the above relate to disguise the quality and to nmake them lokk attractive and tempting.
Sent by k v ramana

there should be a strict regulations, controlling ready to eat sweets & savouries in the public interest. sub-standar ingredients including dairy products, oil. ghee, dry fruits, sweeteners & preservatives should be punishable after a speedy trial.
Sent by ashok m rao

when we cannot avoid death, why avoid sweet. lets take atleast a small quantity so that our mind can have some happiness.
Sent by jjc

strict laws should be implemented so that manufactureres who adulterate the sweets face grave punishments.
Sent by sharda

sweets were and are part n pacel of life in indian celebrations irespective sect n religion. but now is the time to learn secrets of ur body n biology avoid harmfull food.hygene is life. those days are gone when ghee & butter were known as health friendly food. forget it.
Sent by srichand punjsbi

there is a lot of unhealthy practices followed by the sweet owners.also awareness on the part of the public needs to be created.eating sweet on diwali is allright provided the guidelines are followed.
Sent by ankit

if artificial colours are harmful for health, then it should be banned otherwise it doesn't matters. and there should must be mentioned calorie content in the acking
Sent by amit

yes government should be banned sweets in diwali rakhi bhaiya dooj inatead sweets dryfruts should be safe. due to these festivals.
Sent by mr vijay kapoor

laws already exists but the need is to enforce them.ur asking for silver foil , silver is good for health but problem is that silver is not used and it is aluminum used in the name of silver which should be banned and heavily fined on detection of the same
Sent by mahender

the indian eating habits always a cause for the increasing diabetic/heart patients in india. from the childhood we are eating un healthy foods. young children and adult never take green vegetables and spinach regularly. people mostly like to eat sweets and meat only. we have to cultivate the habit of eating healthy diet right from childhood days.
Sent by thulasingam, bahrain

we are helpless, as our government is callous and selfish. people get little protection from the state.
Sent by sujit basu

either the people should make sweets only at home or then chocolates of all sorts be consumed and cistributed
Sent by neena kochar

yes all the above needs to be strictly adhered to health is very important ,no compromise on adulteration
Sent by niranjan

i agree to all the points what's been given whether its for silver foil or for artifical colour or for government rules or for packing. but we still doesn't know what they mix in sweets while preaparing at the time of festivals due to high demand. it might be unhealthy or might dangerous to body.
Sent by hiren kumar

artificial colours should be banned banned banned
Sent by m.shafiqur rahman

the most of the contents used in the sweets are harmful, prepared in unhygenic conditions, despite having all sorts of inspectors, this is a fact and everyone have them knowing all these facts very well. how would you prevent them from having it? ofcourse you can't, as it is tongue which forces them to do it. the profit content in selling sweets is the highest as one gets around 60%. it is standardisation and machine made sweets at reasonable price can make the difference.
Sent by arun

i strongly support this article as every time during festive seasons the shopkeepers start preparing the sweets few days in advance which can cause infections while consuming. these are never fresh. govt. should ban use of artificial colours in all kinds of eatables.
Sent by brijinder khurana

there should be strict law against any kind on food aduluteration not only sweet. very recently i came across chemical cream in cake when i went to buy birth daycake for my sons bday party. shopowner gave me option fresh cream or chemical cream i was shocked by hearing this. i tried to find out more about this and they were literly using chemical color, oil and some kind of power paste etc in making cream this is really horrible
Sent by narendra nk

celeberate with safe sweet
Sent by s.senthil kumar

good campaign.
Sent by rakesh kumar

the business could do with some guidelines, and controls
Sent by jagdish n saigal

i wish all these things could happen. but with the corrupt politicians and such high population, it is impossible to monitor the small time vendors and the big players too.
Sent by vidya jakkaraju

traditional indian sweets like guzias, laddus, shakkarpara, jalebi etc - made in desi ghee and not vanaspati ghee- and that too in a small quantity are more than enough to celebrate any festival. why should we spend our hard earned money for buying health hazardous sweets? buy dry fruits instead!
Sent by manisha kate

sweets affect our health in a big way so why not have some laws & regulations for safe ingredients. i think there is some govt agency that is suppose to keep check on safety/hygiene of food items for general public.
Sent by deeps

it should be made mandatory that every sweet packet should carry the warning signal about silver foil, arificial colours or any harmful substance being used in the preparation of the sweets
Sent by achuta venu

diabetics normally should know their diet schedule and calorie content in routine sweets and should exercise caution
Sent by k. hariharan

well ,it is always advisable to purchase sweets made from reputed shops as the chances of contamination is less.
Sent by s.c.peters

Sent by mahjabeen

Sent by sujatha

yes some sort of ban is required to stop people from consuming these poisons.
Sent by mani

you love it , then eat it even if you are dying.
Sent by jk

yes, sweet must be taken under physicist's guidance only.
Sent by epiphany

it is late but not too late to impliment.
Sent by s. nair

it is always better to prepare sweets at home and distribute in small quantities along with fresh and dry fruits. we have presented fresh fruits combination with apple, amrud, banana, sweet lemon etc., without any sweets and dry fruits.
Sent by pamula balakotaiah

the best sweet for diwali is homemade, colorless, traditional sweets. the more decorative and colorful, the more toxic! beware of commercial sweets always!
Sent by mani

enforcement of laws should be independent of the season. diabetics should know what they are eating. nowadays you need not be educated to know about ur health. in fact our great grandparents were more aware of their health and the state of their health though they may not be able tell the exact technical term or explain its significance.
Sent by venu

as we have advanced in almost all the things, we should also have strict government rules governing preparation of sweets as well as other edible items in india.
Sent by hemali

in take of anything should be cautious. when there is no sufficient work-outs in the day-to-day life - sweets are to be taken in less quantity. the results of the surveys are to be reached to the very common citizen of the world - especialy in india.
Sent by sreeramoju vidyadhar

people 4get their diet when it comes to festivals… as there is a statutory warning in all the cigarette packets; there can be some sort of initiative by the govt. to diabetes patients also…
Sent by pavithra

i think we should all eat al the sweets an die
Sent by george bush

india needs to raise standards about ready made food products and ensure there is high compliance. errants must be severely punished. points raised here are absolutely necessary considering that sweetmeats are an inherent part of our lifestyle and that india will soon have the largest number of diabetics. people need to know calorie count of sweets they purchase and if they come from fat or sugars.
Sent by archana pande

i think overall hygiene in india needs to be addressed for all food preparations. go to a cold storage facility and see the lack of basic hygiene.
Sent by la

the adulteration for for the food has really be stopped...its slowly degrade out health...and whenever the festivals come the problem started..its nt only the govt have to do it even an individual have to take it serioulsy by not busying so much of sweet
Sent by madhulika

we should avoid making sweets like asdhirasam and all. instead we can eat some fibre related things on occasions like diwali
Sent by lalitha

this is one of the use full survey in india
Sent by m.s.arun

consumer intrest should always be protected. consumer should be given the first priority.
Sent by kiran

it's the public who have to be conscious of the health hazards in consuming these sweets. so keeping the public informed of the consequences would help better.
Sent by raji

the average indian does not understand the consequences of indulgence in sweets when consumed it is only when things go out of control there is a degree of repentance i think prevention is better than cure so we must avoid these things.
Sent by meena

govt. should be stric & punished the people who does adulteration in making sweets and any food item which is directly related with helth.also govt should take action against those people who supply bad quality & 7 to 15 days old mava(made from milk)which is cause of dehidretion ,desentry, and lose vitamins from body.
Sent by m.r.sheth.

anything bad for health must not be allowed. only taste is important not the look.any content used is not good for health must be declared on the packing.
Sent by kantilal s patel

sweets kept for days together also contain bacteriabut no bodybothers about it. horrible
Sent by drc rao

either the people should make sweets only at home or then chocolates of all sorts be consumed and distributed
Sent by neena kochar

at least these should be str
Sent by sharad pandey

diabetis is there in my family.so i am always scared to take sweets.but i love to have them and sometimes i cannot control myself.i try not to buy sweets but these during festivals i become helpless.
Sent by puspita sharma

mithai, sweets(toffee, chocolate, candy), bakery items, juices and drinks must not inlclude, silver, artificial color/flavor , citric acid or preservatives. this must be forbidden and the restrictions followed religiously. best aijaz gul islamabad.pakistan.
Sent by aijaz gul

try to merge tradition and standards. if traders use standard ingrediants, why should we feel health hazards. at present, every body wants to make money quickly and traders traditional ethics are also not followed. so, purchase from known sweet trader who makes and checks himself all the ingrediants. maybe, these traders are not popular but are known in the neighbourhood from generations. also, buy from reputated business houses or brand names.
Sent by p anand

it is would be better if fdi floats any laws governing the use of silver foiled papers on the sweets. if any research on this proves that usage of silver foil is harmful to health, it is advisable that sweet makers can completely do away with using silver foil on sweets are only to attract the buyers and has not got any value addition in improving the quality of the sweets.
Sent by b.viswanathan

every thing under limit is good for health
Sent by wasique zahir

this acan be interpreted as presenting poison and eating poison knowingly. silver foils on food items should be banned immediately.
Sent by k.isaac

sweet makers should not play with the health of people. they should have basic ethics not to indulge in adultration or things like that which affect peoples' health. they know very well they can make profits even without doing these kind of things. having said that, it is the equal responsibility, or more so of the people to be more careful while deciding what to eat and what not to and when to and when not to.
Sent by sadashivappa

people are intelligent enough to decide over silver foil, calorie content and diabetes related issue but yes as they cant really judge the quality of what they are eating, there must be some sort of government control and ban on usage of harmful content.
Sent by anurag jain

in my opinion, there should be strict laws for those who prepare sweets and there should be government marks, if possible, in addition to surprise checking of shops for adulteration and use of toxic colours.
Sent by saaraj gupta

it is high time more awareness is created regarding the hazards of eating excess sweets
Sent by sriram

government should make indian standards code for prepration of sweets and make mandatory to follows all codes. no one issued liensnce to opened sweets shops unless they ready to follows all rules. volilaters should put under heavy penalty.
Sent by neetu banga

indian sweets though a treat for the taste buds are a double killer, if not diabatic, the chelestrol will surely kill you. so take care.
Sent by naval bhatia

in my view all the eatables should be brought under the perview of a legal body which can have a power of death penaulty for using adultrated ingradients in eatables
Sent by milind

stirct controll over sweet shops should be placed. their registration should be made mandatory
Sent by sridhar

a regular awareness programme for this must be included in the health tv channels with strict legal implementation
Sent by dr. t. g.ramamurthi

all this is fine.where is the godamn enfocement and punishment mechanism?
Sent by anutosh maitra

one should know the health hazards of having more sweets and should restrained from taking more sweets.
Sent by c g krishnan

saturated fat content , trans fats if used and expiry date should be know to the consumer buying the sweets
Sent by anu

in take of anything should be cautious. when there is no sufficient work-outs in the day-to-day life - sweets are to be taken in less quantity. the results of the surveys are to be reached to the very common citizen of the world - especialy in india.
Sent by sreeramoju vidyadhar

bad sweets are as dangerous as cigarates.so statutary warning and contents of raw meterials should be specified.
Sent by tapan

our halwais are most corrupt and uneducated , they can do anything to make money and cheat, there shd be stringetn monetary punishment and jail terms if they are caught.but who will catch them the system is as bad as them.. there is no way out
Sent by s.k.walia

healthy sweets should be eaten in right proportion and should never be over eaten.
Sent by sunil p trivedi

the sweets which are sold in all areas and gillies in india should have banned. not only that it should be in cotrol by fci .the main thing is packing the ingredients the value of specific calories.. and more then that the date of expire, if this all is not there one should stop buying the sweets and go for chocolates if needed.
Sent by shweta

it is not only the diabetic but also the common man and the young children are suffering because of the adulterants in milk ,ghee, paneer and khoya urea, detergents fats from dead and rotten animals and overall the deadly adulterants in so called desi ghee is poison for small children and also for common consumers .some exemplary punishment is to be given to offender or mass movement to boycott adulterated sweet .because of media this year sweet sale for diwali is less by 25%.
Sent by vijay pai

eat as much as you can and burn it thereafter by jogging/exercising/swimming
Sent by rrr

all the questions above is 100% ture it is all needed to be checked.. i agree.
Sent by vinutha

as i was not aware of the facts you mentioned about the sweets. however, from next time i'll make sure of taking precautions before buying sweets. thanks for the information.
Sent by chanderlekha nayar

artificial colour should not be used & the place where the sweets are prepared should be kept neat, goverment should set up a team who have some weekly checks at sweet shops to check the standard & quality of the sweet.
Sent by neha sakhuja`

i'll say only one thing, those caught in adultration should be given exemplary punishment irrespective of the power or stature of the person caught.
Sent by t r suman

all the above five points are necessary for helth.
Sent by r.k.raghav

the silver foil (varakh) being used is not just carcinogenic, it is also made under very unhygenic condtions. and most of the people are not aware of the condition in which this is beaten up into thin sheets (by placing the silver between two layers of animal skin to make it thin). it is absolutely useless, doesn't add any extra taste to the sweets, this has to be banned. there should be more information about he ingredients and the calories about each sweets on the pack.
Sent by sharada ganesh

food contents/ callories count and health warning should be indicated on the box of sweets and should never get sweets in open form as in shops.
Sent by daljeet

artificial coulours, silver foils are health hazards.still we continue to love jalebis, laddus and so on.children should learn about good eating habits from elders.
Sent by neera

need to have better hygine standards. we are not sure about what oil/ghee is used for making sweets. use of hydrogenated oils should be avoided. if used the labels should clearly mark use of hydrogenated oils. according to some medical experts, hydrogenated oil is as good as poison.
Sent by ashutosh

i am scare to eat sweet made in large quanity in shops i feel they are not hygenic better not to eat outside sweets especially in the festival session
Sent by roopa

sale of sweets should be governed thro isi certification.
Sent by venkatesh

eating sweets in moderation is ok as it is associated with festivities. if we exclude sweets out from our diet it may not be correct. it is better to make lifestyle changes rather than exclude everything on western lines.
Sent by manoj anand

statuatory warning reg the ingredients and the possible side effects in the silver foil must be on the sweet packages
Sent by mohan

the sweet shops which are preparing the sweets should not only concentrate on taste and presentation of the sweet they also think of the health of the people who are consuming the sweets. accordingly they should take some good step to avoid chemical items in the sweet and the sweet packets should contain the date of making the sweet and old stocks should be discarded not to be sold.
Sent by sudha

your questions are quiet odd. 1 ] should use of colours be banned : if this is done then how will the sweets get the required colour ? secondly even if it is banned how will it be made sure that the sweeet makers will not use it ? colours is widely used in preparation of various food dishes. first this should be banned then the sweets. 2 ] reinforcement of the laws : this industry is so well spread and so many people involved : in case if laws are enforced does the government have enough manpower to keep check on all manufacturers of sweets ?? 3 ] should there be a statutory warning for diabetics : there is no need. i don't think that diabetics are that fools - knowing their problem and the medicines they have to take to maintain normal life there is no need for warning. only if he is too stupid will he have sweets knowing he has diabetics. and over and above sweets means sugar - this is but obvious.
