DoctorNDTV Survey

Call centres might have proved to be a boon for the Indian economy and the unemployed youth of India, but they come with a package deal of no social life, stress due to odd hours and many other physical and psychological health risks. DoctorNDTV.com conducted a survey on "Call Centres and Health" to find out whether the job is worth the health risks it carries with it.

A vast majority (93%) vouched that call centres should have a counsellor to tackle the stress at work with 89% people in favour of mandatory periodical medical check ups. Nearly 80% of those participating in the survey felt that the Indian government should lay down guidelines for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. However, 73% of people did not want them to be banned in spite of their posing danger to one's health. There was a mixed response regarding the safety of girls working there and about 77% said that the job does take a toll on one's social life.

it is but necessary that bpo comapnies evolve a model code of conduct for work timings, schedules and at the same time evolve methods to take care of inherent health hazards. the onus of maintaining high moral values must be with the employees themselves.
Sent by s.swaminathan

bpo should have a round o clock shift system.

call centres are one of the pillar of indian economy now. but there should be some working guidelines empowered on them. also, some call centres handle critical customer data. data security should be well maintained.

sitting jobless will spoil health and spoils mental health as well. it is better to spoil only phusical health. health and morals - doesnt matter because govt has laid some policies/rules wich affect health and moral and is giving more rights to women w

the stress associated with people working in call centers is too difficult to manage. would be nice if the shifts are regularly changed where people workin in night shifts also do get an equal or even greater number of day shifts to strike a balance in lif
